Baby Boy Update: 23w4d

How big is baby:  23 weeks | baby weighs as much as a large mango

Verse that I am clinging to: "What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole." 1 Peter 1:3-5 The Message

How I’m feeling: Overall, pretty good. Energy level is okay (although I definitely need to get to bed at a decent hour) and I do require some caffeine in the morning to get going.

Symptoms: eczema, heartburn (literally thought I had strep throat and went to the Minute Clinic. Nope. Just pregnancy heartburn burning my throat.), Braxton Hicks here and there. Drinking lots of water to combat!

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: I just wanted a cold sub sandwich this week, which is a no-no since deli meat has to be cooked thoroughly to prevent bacteria. I am bad and had a Subway sub at a teacher luncheon (so delicious) and then on Saturday I went to Harris Teeter and got an 18" sub (wish I could say I ate it all, but Marshall ate half). My aversion to our fridge water/ice has disappeared, hooray!

Weight gain/loss: Not keeping track, just weighing in at the doctor when I go. Next appointment is a week from Thursday. Hopefully I haven't gained more than 5 lbs.

Sleep: I do love to sleep and boy is it hard to wake up in the morning.

Exercise: None at all really. Track out is coming so I plan to make movement more of a priority.

Movement: Lots of movement! Loves to kick late at night when I am in bed, or when sitting down. Last night we went to the IMAX and he danced through the whole thing (I also drank a Dr. Pepper so that may be responsible). The other night I was snuggling with Marshall and he could feel him moving all around, such a weird feeling!

Best moment of the week: Today we went to Hillsborough to see Marshall's family for his dad's 25th anniversary with his church. They had a big luncheon and a preacher talk about heritage and we got to see all these people we really haven't seen since we got married. It was so great to see how the church has evolved in 25 years and hear the stories from different people on how it grew (and funny stories of M & his siblings!). A great morning, for sure.

What I’m loving: This time of year. Fall is imminent, track out is just one week away, and it is just a joyous time.

What I’m looking forward to: Celebrating our anniversary this week! On Wednesday we celebrate 3 years of marriage and last night we celebrated 9 years since our first date (which, at the time, I was very adamant about referring to as a non-date). I am looking forward to the rest of our lives! I feel so blessed and grateful for this life, and to add being a mom to a sweet baby boy to it is just icing on the cake. Wednesday we plan to go to a place called José and Sons (we saw it a few weeks ago when we went to the Videri chocolate factory, it had 'Hola Y'all!' written on the door. I was intrigued.) I am so blessed to be married to this man.
