Baby Boy Update: 26 weeks

How big is baby:  26 weeks | the size of a butternut squash
Verse that I am clinging to: "You are my hiding place and my shield. I hope in your word." Psalm 119:114
How I’m feeling: Truthfully, I feel pretty awesome. I feel in the prime of second trimester goodness (especially after a cup of coffee) with a little touch of nesting.
Symptoms: I have had a cold off and on pretty much all of trackout, but I am wondering now if it is just that pregnancy congestion I've heard so much about. Eczema is still a thing (my poor friends this weekend kept saying "I hope your face feels better") and so is heartburn, but we are adapting. As my sister says, "delivery is the cure!"  I did have a very interesting heartburn turned asthma attack last week which was strange and slightly terrifying. Thankfully, Tums, my inhaler, two Benadryl and a hot shower healed me but it was pretty scary for a while. I think I'll be sitting out of Taco Thursday for the rest of the year.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions:  I like all food. Had a weird reaction to pigs in a blanket, but then the next day ate three of them so not sure what that was about.
Weight gain/loss:  Scale at home has me at having gained right at 15 pounds, official weigh-in at the doctor tomorrow. I definitely look pregnant now and feel pregnant. That is for sure. Packed up all my "pre-baby" clothes today to put in the attic indefinitely. Maybe someday we will meet again.
Sleep: Oh my goodness, do I love being asleep!? Getting up a few times a night to visit my friends in the bathroom or to find covers or a pillow that was strewn about in a "I'm freezing!" or "I'm sweating!" moment. Otherwise the sleep is paralyzed-can't-open-my-eyes good. Woke up the other day to Luna snoring (literally) beside me. Best feeling ever.
Exercise: Nope. Wanted to go to yoga. So busy all the Saturdays. I did vacuum today and bend over a lot picking up our house, so... that counts, right?
Movement: This kid is going all the time! Last night he had the hiccups and it was super cute and weird.
Best moment of the week: Lobo was getting snuggly with my bump the other night and got a swift baby kick in the face. He looked at my belly like "What was that for?!" and then sneezed and ran away. I feel certain that I witnessed the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
What I’m loving: Not being at work during the day (although that ends after tomorrow) and getting pity and special treatment from strangers in public (is this one of those things you aren't supposed to say out loud?). People keep letting me skip them in grocery lines (and bathroom lines!) and this weekend while out with girlfriends for a friend's bachelorette, everyone was super nice and gave me chairs and water. I guess if my face looks busted and like I have to pee, it's the least people can do.
What I’m looking forward to: We have a baby shower this weekend! It feels early, but with lots of traveling in October and November and the holiday season, this was the only time we could find to do it. It seems so surreal, that in 3 months (or sooner, perhaps?!) our son will be here. With us. In real life. !!!.
